Have Fun, Be Safe, Be Proud!

Happy Independence Day!

Well , the 4th of July is here and let us not forget that on this day in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress starting the 13 colonies on the road to freedom as a sovereign nation. Let us also not forget, our fore Father’s and what they stood for. This wonderful Nation founded under God. Also a heavy heartful THANK YOU and HUGS to our honorable and loved troops fighting to keep our freedom at large!

Now to get the fun started!

We hope you have the advantage to spending some good quality time with friends and family this upcoming weekend and you enjoy yourselves to the fullest! (Be safe and take it easy on the moon juice!)
For those still wandering around trying to put something fun together for the kids and family…don’t worry, we got you covered!
First and for most…get some fireworks. You know the in-expensive kind being sold all over the place including your already packed parking lots! Get a good sized pack and let the kids have a blast (supervised of course!) – Don’t forget about about those lil white snappers that pop when they hit something! (Terrifying lil things aren’t they!)
Before the sun falls and you want to get the lil boogers doing something to burn all that energy from soda and popsicles, you should get them running around playing this game that is a sure hit and praised by the young society!
Check out these out of the box ideas and trust me…IT WORKS!

Hose Head

  • Several pairs of old control-top hose or tights (sizes medium or small work best)
  • 1 sponge ball or rolled-up sock for each player
  • 2 or more players

Instructions

  1. Setup: Create a hose hat for each player by cutting off the hose at the thigh and putting a ball or sock in the toe of each.
  2. Players put on their hose hats, cuffing the hose as needed to make the fit secure. The ball should hang at least to the shoulders.
  3. On the count of three, players try to grab the ball — and the hose along with it — off the heads of opposing players while keeping their own ball and hose in place. This leads to much wild swinging of heads (which is why a soft ball or sock works best) and much laughter. (No holding the hose on your head, as a strong tug from another player could be jarring.) The last player with a hose hat on his head wins.

– Try running around doing this one!…should burn off a hamburger or two! ;0)

I am only putting this one game because I am sure the kids attention span has now ran them into the pool or into a spraying sprinkler!

Now for a treat!

Ingredients: strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream, sugar (optional)

Instructions: Clean and hull five strawberries, then add dollops of whipped cream to the top of each one. Sprinkle sugar on the whipped cream (optional – depending on how health conscious you are, you could use “raw sugar”!), then top each strawberry with a blueberry and arrange them as shown.

Pretty painless AND adorable, right?

Now it should be in the later part of the night and hopefully you are going some where to see a great display of fire in the sky or you are being bombarded with all your neighbors fulfilling that responsibility!

After you have said goodbye to all the stragglers in a tone to overcome the deafening ring in your ears for the last time… prepare to hear the kids plead a great case to stay up. Luckily for them your full belly, crispy tan, and a mess to deal with tomorrow, has allowed them to nestle close!

Growing up, my closest friends and I would get a laugh out of saying to each other on the 4th by “Happy Will Smith Day!”  You see, we grew up in the prime of Independence Day and it took over…so with that being said…pop the movie in… (everyone should have it..maybe even on VHS!) and allow yourself to relish in the wonderful day you just had!
