The Man vs. The Righteous (replay)

A contribution by Nick: Caution not for the faint of heart.

It’s August in Hawaii and I’ve learned so much from this magical island so far. I’ve been hitch-hiking, camping, working at youth hostels, and living with the homeless. I’ve learned so much about love and friendship along the way. This island was once a perfect paradise until the “greed” within the new settlers decided to come and try to take over. If you’re not aware of the story, a quick summary would go like this…

Captain Cook and his crew landed here in the 1700’s and convinced the Hawaiians that they were gods. Because of there white skin color, the Hawaiians believed Captain Cook and his men. Today, it’s still happening. White people are buying all the land and pretending to be the superior race. Even the police are being shipped in from the main land to work here. They are arresting locals for things that were once ok, before we decided to change their laws.

But this is not why I’m writing this blog post. I’m writing because I know in my heart that this depression we live in is not going away. I am truly learning about the good and the evil that surrounds us. It’s funny that when I say “evil,” most people would automatically think of drugs, gays, and homeless. But what is truly evil? Have you ever thought about the government? The Man? The selfish arrogant people who think they can do whatever they want. Maybe it’s time for us to stop watching the news.  If fear = control, then how would the man do this? Maybe flooding the news with terrible stories! The news is a way for the Man to control us! Turn off your tv’s!

One of the most important lessons that Hawaii has taught me is that maybe the enemy is hiding behind a business suit. For the past 6 months I have been hitch-hiking across the Islands and never once have I gotten picked up from a Lexus or a BMW. Every time someone pulls over, it’s usually a rusty pickup truck with a driver who looks like they can barely afford gas. Now why would they pick me up and not a wealthy person? Why are the nicest people that I have met out here homeless and the struggling? Why are the rudest people that I’ve met, the best dressed.

On the 4th of July, at 10pm, me and a few of my friends decided to go to the beach. We were rudely escorted off the beach by a wealthy  family who told us we were not allowed to be there because we were too close to their private community of ocean-view real estate. We were not on their land. We were on the beach! God’s land. The beach is technically no one’s land. But we didn’t want them to get the cops involved so we let them yell and scream at us and then escort us out.

About 5 months ago, I was living on the beach with homeless Hawaiians. My friend Steve and I were new to the island, but we found a beach we could camp at and pitched our tents. These Hawaiian have been living on the beaches for years and accepted us as if we were family. They cooked tradition Hawaiian food, showed us how to make Hawaiian shell lei’s, and protected us. Why did they do this? Because we shared the most important thing that God has given us. LOVE! Love is what brings us together.

How can you tell who is the Man and who is the Righteous? Here are my notes: The Man will try to arrest you, he will put fear into your life, he will make you suffer, he will try to scare you, he will try to make you feel powerless. The Righteous will pick you up off the streets, they will feed you, show you love, show you your true potential. You may not know this, but WE ARE GOD! GOD IS US! “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis1:27) Together we can do all things through HIM, but the MAN will tell us that we can’t. This is not true!

So how can we be Righteous? Next time you see someone who is broken, hurt, and homeless…do not avoid looking at them! You look at them with the eyes of GOD and smile. That’s all it takes. Maybe buy them a cup of coffee. The funny thing is, as Im writing this a homeless man approached me and started talking to me. I did just that…I bought him a cup of coffee. Never have I felt so ALIVE! You can do the same. Above is a photo of me and my new friend! Thank you for reading this! God Bless you!

You should have some baby love !

“The Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
Right on target Nick, thanks for putting it out there.

The Bible declares that the saved through Christ “Are the righteousness of God”. So we then should take on the characteristics of Christ as we walk out our days. Jesus said as we reach out to others, some of us have entertained angels.
