Churches Beware

These two individuals stole over $50,000.00 in gold and silver along with personal documents from the home of a local Pastor. They claimed to be painters who had miraculously inherited over 260 million dollars by praying for a dying millionaire on his deathbed 22 months earlier. They said they would not spend a penny of the money until they found the perfect church to tithe 10% of their windfall.

Initially, they called the church office and spoke to an Elder. They identified themselves as John and Joanne Johnson from Greenbay, Wisconsin. They expressed their desire to find the “perfect church” in the area with prospects of tithing 10% of their windfall to the ministry.  They made the church Elder promise not to tell anybody, as they wanted to remain humbly anonymous. They warned that if anybody found out it would comprise the donation.

They had no car and no money except what they earned from painting homes of church members. They even did some work for free and even cooked for the Pastors.

The husband and wife painted well as a team, all the while staking out the properties of the Pastor’s homes and other church members looking for the “mother-load”. Often times they painted indoors and were trusted to be left alone while they worked.

They finally stooped to the lowest level of deception and told the Senior Pastor that God spoke to tithe $2.6 million to his church and the transfer would come in 30 days, but again…that they must remain anonymous.

They told the Pastor to go and find a building and or property and they would draft the money to the church on a specified date.  They even offered to provide bank records and references from other Pastors and CPA’S to verify their claims. They even had a person posing as a Pastor call the church and verify their story.

But finally—when the “mother-load” was found in the home of a Pastor, they moved quickly.  When the Pastor was at work, they began to empty the house like the “Grinch that stole Christmas.”  And when the Pastor returned home, the house was emptied out of over $50,000.00 in property and personal possessions. The kitchen stove and cabinets were also burned.

Up until this moment, they are still on the run. Their true identity is unknown. Even the local police department have stated that this is not a top priority case and it may take 1 year to even process the finger prints. In the meantime they could possibly be targeting another church right now.

If you have seen these people and/or have any information that may lead to their arrest please let us know A.S.A.P.
