Words of Encouragement from Julio

By the amazing Mr. Julio Becker

When I was asked to blog and be a part of this site, I did not hesitate. It was a calling from God and a way to utilize the gifts God has given to me. We all have special gifts he has bestowed upon us. Sometimes they are difficult to realize, especially through tough times but if we sit and listen, He will speak to our hearts. Some may already be using those gifts and not even know it.

It did not take me long to realize the topic that would be the foundation for many others to follow. My friends, my words today are of goals, facing fears, worries, and hope all wrapped into one. Why? Because those are not only ideal to start with, but because this website and the friendships/relationships you will build here exemplify these things.

~ Ephesians 4:32 says “Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” I believe it takes less effort to be kind and help others than to argue, hold grudges, and be ugly. Sometimes it’s the simple things which can make someone’s day or help them along through a difficult time. A smile, warm greeting, or a simple gesture can make a world of difference. I know a story that I will share in a separate post about how a simple act of kindness saved someone’s life. Yes it’s true, most of the time we don’t realize just how deep our actions and words affect others.

“Father, if You are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from Me. Yet I want your will to be done, not Mine.” ~ Luke 22:42. It is natural and perfectly ok to feel anxiousness and fear. How amazing is it that Jesus felt these emotions? In times of despair, it is easy to feel this way. Do not hide your emotions. Instead seek comfort in others and have faith that everything happens at the hand of God and for a reason and therefore know that ultimately the outcome will be the right one as He intended.

Hope is a powerful thing. It is through hope that we can maneuver through the day and everything it brings. I say the day because there is no sense in dwelling on past circumstances or future problems. We must live in the present because that is what is in front of us and we are not guaranteed what the next day will bring. ~ Genesis 8:11 “This time the dove returned to him in the evening with a fresh olive leaf in its beak. Then Noah knew that the floodwaters were almost gone.” In this passage, the olive leaf signified hope. I urge you to find that symbol of hope on a daily basis. We love symbols of hope and use them to comfort others. If your best friend has a broken heart, you give them an olive leaf. When an experienced mother mentors a new mother and explains that it is normal for children to act a certain way, they are giving an olive leaf. There is always an olive leaf for us.

So, how do we get past things and deal with the unavoidable emotion called worry? ~ Romans 8:32 “Since He did not spare even His own Son but gave Him up for us all, won’t He also give us everything else?” Bring your anxieties to God. Place all your problems in front of Him and He will take care of them all. However, realize that everything is done in God’s time, not ours. As human beings, we want the now. We want our problems to be solved and gone away when they arise. Be patient. Communicate through your own personal relationship with God and leave the issues for Him to deal with. Do not worry and make yourself feel worse over things you cannot control. Instead, go out and do for others because God will take care of you. With God as your quarterback, you cannot lose. He is the pace car, the conductor, He is the all mighty! When you find yourself worried about health, finances, employment, speak to Him. He did everything for us. He will also continue to take care of us. God longs for a personal relationship with each and every one of His children. I once learned that we have a jealous God and rightly so, because if our attention isn’t focused on Him first we aren’t walking down the path He set for us. Sometimes we go through trials because God is trying to get our attention and it takes hurt to realize and focus on where we should be.

I don’t expect everyone to believe in the same things that I do. I am respectful of everyone’s opinions, feelings, and situations. I invite all of you who read this to express your feelings and add to the topic. With communication comes understanding and solution. I am blessed and thankful to be able to express myself to you and hopefully bring some words of encouragement to that someone who needed them and needed to hear a message on the very day they are reading this.

Feel free to add me on facebook and follow my daily encouragements, adventures, and joy on that page. Making new friends in life as amazing and real and true friends are hard to come by. Keep those friends close and never stop letting them know how much they mean to you.
